Hampton’s Challenger Baseball is a Little League Baseball division that allows children and youth with special needs and young adults with disabilities the opportunity to enjoy all the benefits of playing baseball, in an environment that caters to their unique needs. Children and youth from other divisions and/or the local community volunteer as “Buddies” – a necessary role for both the sustainability of the program – some players require 1:1 support in order to participate, and for the experience to be as close to an integrated one for the Challenger players. Each Challenger player receives the same Little League experience as all HLL players: being part of a team, outfitted in uniform, awards at the end of the season, etc..

Vancouver Island Society for Adaptive Snowsports (VISAS) is a non-profit charitable society focused on providing nationally certified snowsports instruction to those with physical, visual or cognitive impairments. Our purpose is to give people living with disabilities the opportunity to eliminate barriers that have prevented them in experiencing the joy and freedom of cross-country skiing, alpine skiing, sit skiing or snow-boarding. We support a fun, inclusive environment that embraces diversity and respect while providing safe and enjoyable adaptive snowsports experiences to people of all abilities. We use knowledge, expertise and specialized adaptive equipment to assist students to find the snowsport most suited to them. Our volunteer instructors receive specialized training and are certified by various nationally certified organizations. Athletes from our program have gone on to compete in the Special Olympics and Paralympics. Mt. Washington Alpine Resort is a huge supporter of the VISAS Adaptive Snowsports programs by providing our group with office space, equipment to ensure a safe and fun day on the slopes and discounted lift passes for our students.
